FUNDRAISING

If your school or organization puts on concerts or recitals, why not have COR record one of your performances and make CDs that you can sell to raise funds? It’s a natural! You’ll be leveraging the thing you do best, while at the same time providing a keepsake of genuine value to those who enjoy and care about what you do.

As a fundraising product, a music CD is more likely to "strike a chord" in your community than a candy bar or a car wash. The purchaser is getting a high-quality recording, a keepsake that will last a lifetime, while at the same time making a solid contribution to your music program or organization. It’s win-win!

We can record a performance with an audience or a rehearsal session, whatever is your preference. If we record a rehearsal, or schedule a special recording session, we will have the opportunity for multiple "takes" and more flexible microphone placement, and you can arrange to sell the finished CDs at the actual show. On the other hand, a live performance is likely to be more energized and the recording will feature audience reactions and excitement. We record, you decide!

The Process

We will meet with you before the performance and make plans for microphone placement, setup time, etc. We will also get information about the songs or works to be performed, as well as the performers, to use in creating the CD case liner and booklet. If you have cover art in mind, we can discuss it with you at this time. Sometimes schools have the students themselves design the art for the CD!

At the time of the performance or rehearsal, we will set up our recording equipment (a single unit on a card table) in an unobtrusive location, then position our microphones and run cables to them. That’s about it! We will simply record the entire show and worry about separating out the individual pieces back in the COR mastering studio. The "teardown" process is also quick and simple, and we will be on our way shortly after the performance.

Within a week of the recording, we will present you with a Proof CD identical to the master copy we plan to use for duplication. Once you approve the Proof CD, we will proceed to make your CDs. They should be ready for delivery within another week or so, depending on our workload.

Pricing

We will be happy to provide you with a price quotation for your specific fundraising project.  The price for the recording itself will depend on the number of songs, the number of instruments or voices, and other factors.  Packaged CDs are normally $5 each, with a 20% discount for quantities over 50.

Note: The price given is for our standard packaging, with full-color printed CD label and two-sided cover card in a slim-line jewel case.  You may also choose upgraded packaging at additional cost.

Licensing

If your performance contains copyrighted songs, it is legally necessary to receive a Mechanical License from the copyright holder for each such song in order to distribute the CDs.  We will ask you to sign a document we provide stating that your school or organization accepts the responsibility for obtaining the necessary licenses or the consequences of failing to do so.

Other Projects

Maybe you have a special project going on and you need a recording made.  Or your students need CDs of works in progress to practice along with at home.  Or a student may need a recording to submit to a music school, audition, or competition.  COR stands ready to help out with any recording projects you may come up with!  We are flexible and knowledgeable, and we will get the job done right.  Give us a call or send an e-mail and tell us about your plans.
