Musical Groups

Are you a member of a band, orchestra, or other musical group? Maybe your group could use a CD of your best work to get more bookings, or to sell at your shows. Or maybe you want a recording of your ensemble made just for the personal use and enjoyment of its members. Whatever your needs, why not have COR come out to your location and make a recording for you? We will follow up by providing you with high-quality, reasonably priced CDs in whatever quantity you desire. Our Basic Recording Service puts CDs of your group in your hands for a surprisingly low price.

We can record you during a show or recital, or we can record a rehearsal session, or we can schedule a session at the location of your choice specifically to make your recording. Whatever works for you.

COR is a relatively small-scale operation and we do have some limitations in terms of recording rock bands live in concert. We are able to record up to eight tracks at once, but with four (or five) tracks devoted to the drums, we start to run out pretty quick! With rock bands, we have had good results from recording the basic instrumental tracks first, then overdubbing the vocals and any additional instruments. This allows us to work around the 8-tracks-at-once limitation and makes for a better recording at the same time.

With smaller or acoustic bands, we are able to capture a live show with no problem, but the presence of drums and amps calls for the separate-vocals approach outlined above.

Basic Recording Service

Our Basic Recording Service for musical groups provides:

Up to two hours of stereo or multi-track recording
Post-production (mixing and mastering)
Basic graphic design for the CD label and cover card
Your desired number of CDs, with standard packaging (see Note below)

Pricing

Each project is different, so our practice is to find out what you are looking for and to provide you with a custom quotation tailored to your specific project. Normally, we can get enough information from you over the phone to allow us to quote you an overall project price. We don't charge by the hour because it's hard to be creative and have fun while you're watching the clock!

Your custom quotation will depend on the project details and the number of CDs you want. Assuming an initial order of 1 CD, projects involving bands are typically quoted at $200-300, projects involving a single instrument, or a singer with accompaniment, generally run $150-200, and projects involving singing along to pre-recorded backing tracks are usually $100-150, depending on the specifics.

Your custom quotation will include a specific number of CDs. Additional CDs may be ordered at any time for $5 each. There is a 20% discount on orders or reorders totaling 50 CDs or more.

The price given for additional CDs is for our standard packaging, with full color printed CD label and two-sided cover card in a slim-line jewel case. You may also choose upgraded packaging, with full color printed CD label, single-fold booklet and tray card in a standard jewel case. Upgraded CDs may be ordered at additional cost.
